ABOUT ME

Crafting Dreams

Passionate quilter and lifelong sewist, I create quilts for grandbabies and weddings. By day, I ensure compliance; by night, I unleash my creativity. Growing up playing fabric shop at my Grandma's, family is at the heart of Pink Dot Black.

I began my quilting journey about 8 years ago and my first quilts were baby quilts for friends and family. However, my very first quilt was a queen size quilt for  my parents and was quilted completely free-motion on my 30 year-old Kenmore domestic machine. I upgraded quickly after that quilt! I love piecing as well as the quilting. I am learning to embrace binding and hand sewing.

I would love to help you finish your quilt by providing longarm services. I can do an edge to edge design, mid-custom or custom work. I love to do free motion quilting (non-computerized) but I am also upgrading to a computerized system. This will allow for a vast array of designs to choose from. I will be posting available designs soon. All photos of quilts on my website were done free-motion or with ruler work. I'm happy to discuss your quilt top, its intended use once finished, the recipient of the quilt and your budget. Not all quilts need custom quilting!

I also have a wide range of thread colors. I prefer to use Glide 40 weight which does have a bit of sheen to it. I do have some thread options with a flat finish if that is your preference. I do not have a separate thread charge, UNLESS you request a special thread type/color that I must special order. I love to use thread colors that you would not expect to blend but in the end look amazing and do not detract from your piecing! Sometimes my neutrals may not look like a neutral on their own but they really do work with your fabric colors and designs. Who knew that lime green was a neutral? However, we can pick the best thread choice for your quilt top and aligns with your color preferences. Stay tuned as I will include my thread color choices with my gallery of quilts I have completed.

Please follow my blog, "Quilty Thoughts" where I will be including a wide range of information on thread, design selection, terminology for the new quilter, how to prepare your quilt for longarming, binding tips and many other topics. If there is something you would like more information on regarding all things quilting, drop me a message! Also, be sure to sign up for my newsletter. I promise I will not be sending you daily emails! Stay tuned for  giveaways and freebies!

I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to quilt your quilt top for you! First time customers will receive their batting (80/20 blend) at no cost, regardless of the size of your quilt!
